Mild (Uncomplicated Peripheral Neuropathy)
Mild
- No interference with function, symptoms not concerning to patient
- Any mild cranial nerve problem should be managed as ‘moderate’
Management escalation pathway
- Low threshold to withhold ICPI and monitor symptoms for another week versus continue
- ICPI: close monitoring for any progression
Assessment and Investigations
- Neurologic consult
- Patient history : diabetes, alcohol, medication
- EMG
- Blood analysis : diabetic screen, Vitamine B12/folate, immunoelectrophoresis/ immunofixation, renal function, hematology, autoimmune serology, serology for lyme and HIV
- Lumbar puncture
- MR spine/brain to exclude other causes
